Raw Cow Milk is a fun & nutritious addition to your carnivore’s diet. In this post, we will cover some of the benefits of raw cow milk, when & how to use it & who it might not be the best option for.

Cautions

Before we get too far, Raw Cow Milk is not a great option for pets that have an allergy or sensitivity to cow’s milk. However, you may find that a pet that is sensitive to pasteurized cow’s milk can consume raw cow’s milk without any issues. This is because one of the enzymes found in Raw Cow Milk is lactase which helps to digest lactose (milk sugars). So, if your pet is not able to enjoy cow’s milk because of its lactose content, it may be able to enjoy Raw Cow Milk without issue.

Pros of Raw Cow Milk

Now let’s dive into some of the reasons to feed Raw Cow’s Milk!
First of all, Raw Cow Milk is high in healthy butter fats. Grass-fed Raw cow’s milk also has a lovely balance of omega-3 to omega-6 fatty acids. These butter fats are great for your pets’ skin & coat health & overall health!

Raw Cow Milk is filled with a wide variety of naturally occurring & easy to use vitamins & minerals, digestive enzymes & probiotics! Many of these nutrients are either destroyed or denatured through pasteurization. However, Raw Cow Milk, like Raw Goat Milk, is extremely easy for your pet to digest. This means the body can spend less energy on digestion & use that energy for healing & repair instead which is one of the reasons we love raw milk!

Raw Cow’s Milk is high in easy-to-absorb amino acids, which are the body’s building blocks. In addition, Raw Cow’s Milk is a good source of the antioxidant glutathione. Glutathione is considered a master antioxidant in the body helping to reduce oxidative stress & damage.

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine Food Theory, cow’s milk is neutral & sweet. It helps to tonify the qi, blood & yin. Cow’s milk has a particular affinity for the heart, lungs & stomach.

How to Feed

Raw Cow Milk can be fed as the occasional meal, snack or treat. It is also a great way to add hydration to your pet’s meals. It is best to start small & see how your pet reacts to the cow milk. Start with a tablespoon and work up slowly. You can also use Raw Cow Milk to make recipes for your pets like kefir.

Summary

Cow milk can be associated with more allergies than goat’s milk. But in it’s raw form it is less likely to cause issues. Raw Cow’s Milk is full of easy-to-absorb nutrients, enzymes & probiotics. Adding Raw Cow’s Milk to your pet’s diet can be a great way to add hydration & variety! Bonus points if you make kefir out of it for added probiotics & gut health!

Raw Cow Milk Kefir

Ingredients:

Raw Cow Milk

Probiotic (see note*)

Directions:

  1. Add your probiotic to the pint of raw cow milk
  2. Shake the two together well
  3. Remove the lid and cover the container with a coffee filter secured with a rubber band.
  4. Leave at room temperature for 24-48 hours until slightly thicker. If your room temperature is cold, you may want to place the kefir in your oven with the light on, but no heat. This will create a warm environment for the probiotic to work. This method may also result in thicker kefir.
